The Sardinian mask is ritual and metamorphosis, an initiatory catharsis beyond the human and beyond time.
Meeting the masks means witnessing an ancestral intuition that evokes the divine as well as human torment and anguish but never becomes their representation.
Metamorphoses springs from Maurizio Olla’s ceaseless visual research and from the synaesthetic ambition to express through the snapshot the experience of the masks, primordial impulses that vibrate from the bowels and burst into the regularity of the celebration.
